Amerika - Cape Cod - 2027

Hi,
Tobi

I'm posting this here because I haven't received a reply from @ZHB-Tobi
since I answered his private message with the info he requested. Maybe he just overlooked it!

Hi Tobi,
I don't know the Wareham River. We stayed in Hyannis, so we fished marks within a reasonable driving distance from there. We mostly fished inlets, breakwaters, and a few open coast spots.

For the inlets, I used a Yamaga Blanks Early for Rock 104H paired with a Shimano Vanquish 5000, spooled with Varivas Avani Seabass Si-X PE 1.5. For the open coast, I sometimes went heavier with a Major Craft Crossride (up to 80g), a Shimano Stradic SW 5000, and PE 2.5, if I remember correctly. This is pretty light compared to what most locals use, but it worked well for us. If you're fishing around boulders, though, I'd definitely beef up the gear.

My most successful lure was a rigged (black) 9-inch Lunker City Slug-Go. I fished it weedles first but after a couple of missed bites i switch to the ready rigged version. We also caught stripers on the Fiiish Black Minnow, Duo Tide Minnow, and Yo-Zuri Mag Darter. We also managed to catch a couple of black sea bass close to a fairway, and they really seemed to like the Black Minnows. Whenever we saw blow-ups, we threw metal jigs and epoxy jigs, which got us a good amount of small bluefish.

Fishing was quite tough due to the massive amounts of baitfish around; we even spoke to locals who had blanked for seven days straight. We skipped the Cape Cod Canal entirely, as word was it was even worse there, and that style of fishing doesn't really appeal to us anyway.

By the way, you can find a ton of great info and current reports on Stripers Online, as well as on various YouTube channels dedicated to Cape Cod striper fishing. Definitely worth checking out before you head out!

Best regards,
Joe

I forgot to mention that we only got striper bites in the dark except that one time we fished from the boat. My recomendation would be to ask some info in a local tackle shop and check if they have a you tube channel. I learned a lot from The Saltwater Edge and Goose Hummock YT channels.
